About financial abuse:
REPORT SUSPECTED ABUSE
Have you, or has an elder you know, been abused or financially exploited? Financial exploitation can happen to anyone. Abusers charm. They pressure. They may even say they’re doing you a favor.

LEARN HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF
Wise people know when they need assistance. If you are unsure about a document or deal, ask questions and get a second opinion. Contact your financial advisors, attorney and trusted family members. Their advice could help you avoid a financial disaster.
To report suspected elder abuse or financial exploitation, elders or their advocates can call the county’s Adult Protective Services (APS) hotline or law enforcement agency.
- Use the National Elder Care Locator to find Adult Protective Services in your community, anywhere in the US. Just enter your zip code in the locator, or call 800-677-1116
- Consult the national Law Enforcement Contact List by City (pdf) to find law enforcement agencies in your community.
- Another valuable resource in California is the Adult Protective Services County Contact List (pdf)
- Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) has a referral service for elder abuse
